Scripture: “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Devotion: The power of agreement is a powerful thing. When two people set their mind in unity to do something, good or bad, it is almost unstoppable. Jesus gives us a “one up” on agreement. He added himself and the Father into the agreement. Now to me that is the most powerful agreement there is.
When we come together in agreement according to God’s will it is inevitable that it happens. We must take the time to develop a listening ear and be intentional about creating a network of believers in which we can partner in agreement.
As you develop these networks be sure all are in agreement because according to this scripture, the lack thereof will not produce. In this season, foster a listening ear and be led by the Spirit to those who are connected to you and your vision. Some may have been a part of your past but are not called to your future. Allow the Spirit to create a new collective of believers that are called to hold your arms up and stand firm in agreement with God’s will over your life.
Reflection: Are you feeling as though things have changed? Are those that were yesterday’s cheerleaders today’s critics? It is not that they aren’t for you. It’s that they have reached their capacity for your life. They no longer have anything to offer you in the future. Allow the Holy Spirit to remove old circles and create fresh new ones of life that will catapult you into greater purpose.
Prayer: Lord, help us to know who belongs in our past and who is called to our future. Give us wisdom to allow the space for old friendships to change and give us the expanse to develop new ones.
